Professional Development: Past, Present, and Future










In hopes to bridge the gap between my current knowledge of technology, and the knowledge of my incoming students each year, I have developed this professional development plan to address current experience and future goals. This plan will serve as a blueprint of personal professional learning goals to help meet the individual needs of students in regards to 21st Century learning skills. While technology is everchanging, this blueprint will change to meet the technology demands in our global society. The goal of professional development is to gain the skills necessary to support, strenghten, and foster creativity, communication, and innovation in not only K-12 students, but of preservice educators.

  • Plan and implement interactive activites on the classroom SmartBoard to engage learners in all content areas.
  • Effective communicate student progress through online gradebook. Parent communication and understanding of grades throught PIV (Parent Internet Viewer)
  • Students and teachers benefit from Turning Point assessments are 'polling". Students gain immediate feedback in content review in all areas, and teacher gain immediate access to reports based off of student responses. Turning point anywhere is used on previous teacher created assessments in any format.

Online Resources:
  • Calendar used to keep track of building computer lab sign up, as well as staff and individual meetings.
  • Online educational games in the area of math and language arts, used for planning appropriate curriculum to best meet the individual needs of students.
  • Online math games to help increase math fluency in a fun and challenging way.

  • Effectively use Blogs to enhance student communication about literature
  • Student use/ training of Photostory/ Movie Maker in creating classroom projects
  • Using DSI applications in the classroom to support math fluency
  • Using I Touch applications in the classroom to support math learning
Students will benefit from all stated 5 year goals in the classroom by gaining access to technolgy that will support creativity and innovation in all content areas. Students will increase effective communication skills by participating in online discussions through classroom blogs and wikispaces.

Continued Professional Development both through Kent State University and Aurora City Schools will support and foster the learning necessary to deliver instruction in the classroom.

Feedback from professors, administrations, colleaques, parents, and students will help guide necessary coursework and continue professional developments.

  • Write a professional published article of research in regards to the use of technology in the field of mathematics.
  • To become a consistant member of an online learning community to collaborate in the field of technology.
  • Allowing full access to student technology into the classroom to help foster creativity and innovation in projects.
  • Create projects that not only meet the common core curriculum but address the 21st century learning standards needs to produce successful members of our society.
By keeping up with the new innovations in technology by reading professional journals and being a member of professional organizations, I will gain the information necessary to a highly qualified educator in the field of mathematics and technology education. Students will benefit from the lessons created to support 21st Century learning skills necessary to be a productive member in society. Jobs that this years third graders will have when they graduate highschool don't even exist yet, therefore it is only necessary to continue the professional development necessary to keep up with our everchanging society of learners. With ongoing education, I will continue to create a new DNA.
